WORK AND WAGES.

Many employers in Sheffield, Manchester, Glasgow, and in the Midlands are joining the Employers' Federation. A great extension of the lock-out is expected almost immediately. The Dunedjn delegates of the New Zealand Typographical Conference (Messrs A. Walker and J. Ash) returned from Wellington on Wednesday evening. During the sitting of the Conference rules regulating the hours of work and rates of pay for linotype operators were drawn up for submission to the various unions, the Cabinet were interviewed regarding Government advertising and printing in the chief centres, the employment of sessional hands, and the Masters and Apprentices Bill. The Government Printer wa3 also seen with regard to the abolition of overtime as far as practicable in the Government Printing Office, and other natters of general interest to the trade were dealt with.
