» » Mr B. L. Wills, the representative of the ' Sydney Bulletin,' is making a tour of the colony. JNcws comes of the death of Mr J. G. Maifroy, the well-known Superintendent and engineer of the sanatorium at Rotorua. He had been in failing health for some time past. Many of the important engineering works at Rotorua were carried out by Mr Malfroy, notably the waterworks in connection with the sanatorium and Whakarewarewa geysers. He represented the colony at the French Exhibition in 1887. Deceased was at one time Mayor of Bobs, on the West Coast, and, largely engaged in gold mining. He leaves a widow, but no family, and news of his death will be received with deep regret by many visitors to the Hot Lakes district, where his name was for years a household word.
Dr Walter Fox has resigned his position on the staff of the Ooristcburch Hospital. Mr Timson's recital in Christchurch Cathedral at the beginning of the week attracted a very large audience.
