SYDNEY, January 14,

The shipowners are unable, owing to the w-Mit of certain information, to formulate a reply to the engineers' case. The Conference resumes to-day, and it is believed that good grounds for a permanent settlement of the difficulty will be arrived at.

ADELAIDE, January 14. ( Negotiations "between the Adelaide Steamship Company and the engineers are proceeding. Meantime the latter are called out .as tho vessels arrive. The company have been fairly successful in replacing the strikers with non-uutenists.
