THE NICARAGUAN TROUBLE.
[SrfciAL to Press Association.) LONDON, May 2. , Reports from New York represent the state of affairs in Nicaragua as critical. The Nicaraguans having threatened to attack the British residents the guard has been increased by a further number of sailors from the warships. [Per Press Association.] LONDON, May 3. Great Britain will accept the guarantee of San Salvador to pay the indemnity due by Nicaragua within a fortnight if the latter confirms the payment. It is officially stated that, relying on the guarantee of San Salvador, Nicaragua will pay the indemnity to Britain in a fortnight. The blockade of Corinto will be raised. The other claims are to be referred to a joint commission.
