SPORTING INTELLIGENCE.
Staninoor and Wickford, recently taken from Auckland to Sydney, have been sold. The Auckland Racing Club have appointed Mr George Cutts starter, The disqualifications are removed by the Auckland Racing Club from the jockeys Moberley and Whitelaw. The ladies’ golf tourney was continued at Christchurch yesterday, when the handicap match over eighteen holes was played. There were thirty entries, and the match was won by Mrs Woodhouse (Otago) with a gross score of 99 (handicap 7). Mrs Boyle (Christchurch) was'second with a gross score of 103 (handicap 10), Misa Campbell (Christchurch) was third, and Miss Rattray (Otago) fourth. Mr James Boreham arrived in town last night, and was met by a large number of local draughts players and friends. He is in good form for the coming champion match.
On June 27 J. H. Tyers, the amateur swimming champion, swam 100 yds in Imin 3 2-ssec, or 2 2-ssec faster Than the record made by hinlself at Leicester in September, i»92. ■
