BENEVOLENT INSTITUTION.
The weekly meeting of the Benevolent Trustees was held this afternoon ; present —Messrs A. Solomon (ohairman), H. Gourley, R. Chisholm, R. Wilson, and C. Haynes. The Secretary reported that during the week William Hardy and Philip Wakefield had died. Accounts amounting to L 415 Is 7d were passed for payment. It was reported that during the month 357 caseß had been dealt with—l2s men, 310 women, and 861 ohildreo being asßtated, at a coßt of Lll3 7s 6d per week. In March the cost was Llls 17s, in February L12114s 6d, and in January Ll3l lis; while in May of last year the cost was L 143 15s, The faot that Mr G. Calder had been absent from four meetings was discussed! and eventually Mr Havnes moved, and Mr Cuisholm seconded—" That Mr Calder be reappointed a Trustee."—Carried. Fifty oases for relief were dealt with,
