GOVERNOR’S BANQUET.
TO TER EDITOB. Sib,—l think His Worship the Mayor has shown great judgment in making the banquet to the Governor one from the citizens, and not a political one. If he had invited one member of the House he would have been bound to give an invitation to all members in and aronnd Dunedin, and these number seven or eight. Had they all attended the result would have been jealonsy, ill-feeling, and probably a row. No, I think party politics should be excluded from each & gathering, and the Mayor is to be commended for taking this view of the question. The Committee appointed represent the citizens.—l am, etc..
