EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTE.
The Counoil made several alterations yesterday in the constitution, the principal being that a legal assistance fund, contributions to which shall be voluntary, be established and administered by the Council; and that no district institute bring before the Minister or department any matter affecting the colony as a whole except through the Executive of the New Zealand Institute. The Council decided to submit to district Institutes for consideration the proposal of the Secondary Schools* Conference to extend to pupils of secondary schools the privilege granted to those who have served as pupilteachers and those who have attended a training college of counting a pass in the junior scholarship examination towards Obtaining the class D teachers’ certificate. It was resolved— “ That the InspectorGeneral be requested to consider the good that would result from local ipspeptors meeting together onee a year,” The session dosed yesterday afternoon. The next meeting is fixed to be held at Weilington on January 10, 1893. Mr Clement Watson, 8.A., was elected president; Mr W> T. Grundy, secretary; Mr H. Worthington, treasurers Messrs D. White, M. M'Morran, and Ti 8. Foster the executive.
The president has invited the delegates to a pionio on the south side of Lyttelton harbor.
