ENTERTAINMENTS.

The Cargill road Bible and Mutual Improvement Glass commenced Its 1891 session with a social gathering on Wednesday evening. There was a large attendance of members and visitors. The following officers were elected for the ensuing term President, Rev. 6. W. J. Spence; vice-presidents, Messrs W• R, Cole and S. Bridgman : secretary, Mr A. Dickson; treasurer, Mr W. Lang; editor and reporter, Mr W. G. Cole; committee-Misses Woods, Bevars. and M’Corkind&le. The following programme was then gone through : Pianoforte duet, Miss Palmer and Mr Shepheid; reading, Miss Woods; clarionet solo, Mr W. Melz ; duet, Misses Shepherd and Palmer; song, Miss Rainsford ; reading, Mr 3. Bridgman; aoug, Mr Cragg. Refreshments were handed round luring an interval. The John street, Caversham, Mutual Improvement Class met as nsnal on Thursday evening, when there was a large attendance of members. The president (Rev. J. T. Hinton) occupied the chair. The evening was devoted to an interesting and instructive essay on ‘Steam and Its Uses’ by Mr H. Earland, followed by a criticism by Miss A. Tily, Two new members were elected during the evening.
