ELECTION PETITION.
A petition was lodged at Reefton yesterday afternoon by Mr John Drake against tho return of Mr R. Reeves for Inangahua. Sir Robert Stout and Mr Free (of Reefton) have been retained for tbe petitioner. It is understood that the petition lias been brought under the 29th clause of the Election Petitions Act, ISSO, thus making the returning officer respondent. So far as can be learned, the grounds are that votes were disallowed that should have been allowed ; also other irregularities on the part of the returning officer. The petition will probably be heard in Nelson. Subscriptions to a fund to defray Mr Drake’s expenses in the matter are coming in freely.
