THE CHESS TOURNEY.

At the Ghess Congress last night the Inter-island Match was played, Messrs Barnes, Sexton, Littlejohn, Bolton, and Brown representing the North, and Messrs Hookham, Gllivier, Siedeberg, Mouat, and Edwards tho South. The players were paired according to their scores in the championship tourney, Messrs Barnes and Siedeberg were therefore the respective captains. The former, who played a splendid game, defeated Mr Siedeberg, while Mr Sexton defeated Mr Hookham at the 4Sth move. Mr Littlejohn drew with Mr Ollivier. Mr Mouat defeated Mr Bolton at the 48th move, and Mr Brown defeated Mr Edwards at the 35th move. The North Island thus won by 3i games to I\.
