LARRIKINISM.

TO THE EDITOR.

Sir, —Reading the correspondence about the attack on two young men by a band of larrikins last week, I find that your correspondents are laboring under a mistake, Mr “ Birch ” describes the event as having occurred in the North-east Valley. This is a mistake. The attack took place opposite the Great Northern Hotel, at the corner of Great King and Duke streets. Therefore the constable on duty in the North-east Valley was not the constable who helped Mr “Birch ” to pick the unfortunate young fellow out of the gutter, as it was out of his beat. This will account for the ignorance of the matter on the part of the Valley constable.—lam, etc., Amicus Caesi. Dunedin, January 16.
