PRIMITIVE METHODIST CONFERENCE.

Al Saturday’s sitting arrangements were made for rcoeivintr a deputation from the Ministers’ Association. Various committees’ reports were presented and fully dealt with. According to the report o( the examiners of probationers, the following marks have been obtained Senond year: J. Dawson, 79. Third year: J. Olphert, 84 ;G. Clement, 68. Fourth year: T. 11. Lyon, 85. The Hev. P. W. Jones preached the opening sermon on Friday evcnuig in Uundas street Church, the text chosen being Numbers xiii., 30. The preacher dealt in a lucid, earnest, and practical manner with the grand capabilities, the high resolve, and glorious objects of the Christian church. The Sacrament cf the Lord’s Sapper was administered by the Revs. J. Dumbell and 0. E. Ward. The church was well filled for the first service, and a large number remained fir the after service.

On Saturday, at 7 a m., a trial sermon was preached in the same building by the Rev. T. Lyon, of Invercargill, a candidate for ordination, the text chosen being 1 Peter, ii, 7.
