THE A.R.C. MEETING.

Some capital work was got through at Ellerslie this morning. Manton and British Lion were associated together, and put in two circuits on the plough, the last of which was done at a clinking pace. Both horses moved with great freedom. Lochiel and Enid (both stripped) put in a good useful gallop twice round on the tan; Lochiel pleasing the onlookers very much. Hilda and Puschka were sent once round on the plough at a good pace, Balista joining in at the top of the straight, where Puschka droppod out. They then hit out for a sound gallop, which Hilda got through very satisfactorily, though she was a trifle sore on pulling up. Nelson had Antelope for a companion twice round on the tan, but she was of little use to him. Cissy did good work, and so did the jumpers Maugahone and Recruit. The public are accepting 3's to 1 that Lochiel wins the Cup. Nelson is at 5 to 1 (offered), despite the fact of the 500 to 75 that Major George yesterday afternoon accepted about his horse winning.
