MISS WEST'S ENTERTAINMENT.

The annual musical entertainment given by Miss Jennie West and her pianoforte pupils was held at Girton Hall last evening, and proved a very great success. The hall, which was thoroughly crowded, was prettily decorated, while the stage was tastefully fitted up in drawing room fashion, the performers being comfortably seated about it, and all stiffness and formality being thus avoided. The programme was of course almost entirely made up of pianoforte selections, and they were executed by young ladies of various ages and of different grades of advancement in their studies, Among the best played pieces were the duet' Spanish dances, by Misses Nixson and Muir; ' The mill wheel,' by Miss Glover ; a gavotte, by Misses Kate and Florence Mills; one of Mendelssohn's ' Lieder oh»e worte,' by Miss F. Mills; 'Tocatelle,' by Miss Field; 'A river song,' by Miss D. Jones; a waltz, by Miss 11. Drivor; ' Ethiopian dance,' by Miss Mackintosh; and the finafe, for two pianos, • Jubel ouverture,' splendidly rendered by Misses Nixson, Muir, Field, and Mackintosh. A duet, • Sonatina,' by Messrs Maolean and West, was greatly appreciated, as also was Miss F. Mills's ' Sempre cara," with violin obligate, cleverly played by Master George Gill, one of Mr Schacht's pupils. Miss Poppelwell lent variety to the programme by singing very nicely 'Angel's tears,' giving in response to an encore the old favorite ballad ' My love is like a red, red rose,' aid later on contributing ' An old garden.'
