SPORTING INTELLIGENCE.

RICCARTON TRAINING NOTES.

CHRISTCHURCH, October 24.

No important work was done at Riccarton this morning. British Lion and St. Glair galloped two miles in good style, and Vandal accomplished the same journey at a steady pace. Lorraine did not move so well as usual over the Cup distance, and Strenuous did not make a favorable impression on his first appearance. Cuirassier and Leopold went twioe round at a steady pace, and Son-of-a-Gun covered a mile and a-quarter at balfspeed. Exchange traversed the Cup distance alone, and Chain Shot and Engagement made the same journey. Manton was joined by Ruby in the last mile in a steady gallop over the Cup course, but they were not extended. Silver Mark arrived last night, but was not out before breakfast this morning.
