CAPTAIN STRONACH’S RETIREMENT.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —It is to be hoped that the officers of the Ordnance Battalion are not going to allow Captain Stronach to retire from the volunteer service unless Commandant Goldie retire also. We cannot blame Captain Stronach after the treatment he has received. It is to be hoped that Commandant Goldie will not attempt to blame anyone, since he and he alone is to blame, and, if he does not retire, a strict inquiry should be held by Lieutenant-colonel Hume, Until that is done justice will be misconstrued. —I am, etc., Old Barnacle, Dunedin, October 20.
