A woman named Francisca Pozuclo has just been executed in Madrid for the murder of her husband, assisted by her paramour, Pedro Cantalejo, and an accomplice named Vicente Camarasa, who received Cs for his co-operation in the foul crime. After cutting the body up into fragments and burying it they all three sat down to dinner with the utmost tranquillity. The murderess appeared at the trial in deep mourning, and when the Judge asked her her reason for wearing black, she replied “It is on account of the death of my poor husband.” On the morning of tho execution Cantalejo was found to be sleeping so soundly that he had to be roughly shaken before he could be awakened. The suicide of Count Victor Karolyi, a member of one of the oldest families in Hungary, has created a painful sensation in that kingdom. Possessing an income of L 24.000 per annum, he secluded himself from the world, and spent many months of each year in one of his estates in the middle of a forest. The countess, on the other hand, loved society, occupied a beautiful palace in Pesth, and was celebrated for the number and brilliancy of her entertainments. Under the will of her husband she will only receive L 2,000 a year, and the bulk of the property will devolve on the younger brother of the deceased. ' '
