WELLINGTON, June 20.
At the Supreme Court this morning an application for the dissolution of the marriage of Thurston v. Thurston was granted on grounds of the wife's adultery with one Fletcher.
TIMARCT, June 20.
At the Police Court to-day Henry Russell, a simple-looking person, was committed for trial for stealing two sheep. He had built himself a maimai in a clump of gorse and gums on a secluded spot on a farm near the town, camped there for three weeks, had a gun and ammunition, and, when arrested, had a carcass hanging on a tree, and a supply of potatoes as well as mutton. He denied stealing the mutton, stating that he had bought it from a man on the road.
INVERCARGILL, June 20.
John Maloney, who wounded Dr Galbraith, was brought before the Resident Magistrate this morning on a charge of attempted murder, and remanded for eight days.
