THE SIXTH AUSTRALIAN ELEVEN.

*■ AGAINST SURREY. In this match the Australians went in first, and kept possession of the wickets the whole of the first day. M'Dnnnell and Bannerman, who were the first two representatives for the colonials, made an excellent stand, scoring 56 and 43 respectively ; while Turner, who went in seventh, played a splendid innings of 103. The Surrey Eleven, on going to the wickets, were unable to make any stand against the two New South Wales trundlers, and were all disposed of for the very small total of 89 ; K. J. Key (24) being the highest scorer. Being in a minority of 274, the Home team had to follow on, but again the bowling and fielding were so effective that the whole team were dismissed for 120, the Australians thus winning by an innings and 154 runs. Turner and Ferris divided the wickets in the first innings, but in the second Jones proved the most destructive, taking three wickets for 4 runs.
