(I'ek United Press Association.] NAPIER, Ai'KiL 14. Reuata Kawcwo, the last of the great chiefs of Hawko's Bay, died at Onahau this morning. He was a staunch friend of the Europeans dur'ng the Maori war, and furnished and led a contingent against Te Kooti. He was universally esteemed. His death will convert the great political gathering to be held next week into a taiuji. WELLINGTON, April 14. At the criminal session, William J. M'Kavanagh, for embezzlement, was sentenced to one year's hard labor. With the exception of the case against Philip Wilberforce, now being tried, the remaining cases are private prosecutions, and have been adjourned till the 2nd May. Chief Justice Prendergast leaves for Wanganui and Mr Justice Richmond for Nelson and Blenheim on Monday,
