THE APPEAL COURT.
His Honor the Chief Justice and Mr Justice Richmond presided at the sitting of the Court of Appeal yesterday to deliver judgment in accordance with the judgments of Mr Justice Richmond and Mr Justice Gillies. The motion on the part of the Crown to set aside the award of the Compensation Court at Ashburton, granting L 1,252 and coats to Allan M'Lean in respect to land taken for the purposes of the Ashburton - Mount Somers Railway, was allowed with costs, Mr Justice Ward dissenting. Mr Gully, who acted for M'Lcan, intimated Ills intention of applying to the Christchurch Supreme Court, from which the motion had been referred for leave to appeal to the Privy Council. A motion on behalf of the Law Society, in re William Henderson, a solicitor in Dunedin, was adjourned until April 14, intimation being given that unless certain moneys were paid by that date extreme steps would be taken,
