MISS AMY SHERWIN'S CONCERTS.
There was another large attendance at the Princess's Theatre on Saturday evening, when Miss Sherwin gave her fourth concart. The programme was well arranged, it comprising some of the most favorite pieces of the season—such, for instance, as " Lo, here the geiijt'e lark "; MissSherwin's almirable singing of which called forth an enthusiastic encore, in response to which she gave ' The Old Polks at Home.' Miss Sherwin also sang Ganz's song ' Dear bird of winter' in excellent style, and as an encore gave 1 Nobody's business' with great spirit. Miss Piecher sang ' Dear heart' (Mattel) so thoroughly well as to be heartily recalled, when she delighted the audience with a charming rendering of 'Daddy'; and this lady also contributed Gabriel's 'Ruby' in finished style. Mr Stockwell was at his best, and gained encores for his Binging of ' On Deck' (Sude) and Blumenthal'a 'Across the far bine hills." He also took part with Mr Sherwin in Donizetti's duet ' Oh the field of glory.' Mr Sherwin's only solo was ,' The King's champion .'(Watson), but his voice was heard to considerable advantage in the 'Goodnight ' quartet from ' Martha,' and in the trio 'Through the world,' from 'The Bohemian Girl.' That clever flautist, Mr Lemmone, played two solos, the first a ' Concertstuck,' by Popp, and the second Terschack's ' Peasant's dance,' both of which were so effectively executed as to be vociferously encored. A feature of the programme was a pianoforte solo by Herr Scherek, who played a ' Scherzo' by Chopin in his usual brilliant style. During the evening Mr Gprlitz announced that Miss Sherwin would give a concert this afternoon in the Garrison i Hall, the proceeds of which would be devoted to founding a scholarship at the New Zealand Universitj for those desirous of taking to music as a profession, especially as vocalists. The last concert of the series will be given this evening. The concert alluded to above was given at the Garrison Hall this afternoon. There was a fair attendance—the house being perhaps half full; but the audience was partly made up of the girls from the High School and the inmates of the Industrial Schpol, so that there wiU not be a large balance to placo to the credit of the fund. Those present, however, spent a most enjoyable afternoon, the entertainment being an unqualified success. Miss Sherwin sing 'The surprise' in the first part of the progiamme, and 'Who's at my window?' in the Becond part. The last-named song was rendered more attractive by the flute obligato contributed by Mr Lemmone. As an encore Miss Sherwin gave a particularly taking song called 'No, sir, I 'in which she accompanied the music by appropriate gestures that moved the audience to' hearty laughter. Miss Fischer made an i.-npreßsion on the more susceptible of her hearers by the j pathetic way in which she sang ' Daddy'— j a charming little ditty, simple as a Sunday school hynw, that we consider one of the beßt items in this lady's repertory. In the second part Miss Fischer sang 'lt was j a dream.' Mr Stockwell contributed ] 'My Queen * and 'My sweetheart '< when a boy,' and again demonstrated his ability as a ballad singer. Mr Jago sang 'lt is enough,' from 'Elijah,' which was well received; and Mr Lemmone scored a success with two of his delightful flute solos, the second one being given without accompaniment. The only concerted item on the programme was 'This Magic-wove Scarf,' by Miss Fischer and Messrs Stookwell and Sherwin.
