CONGREGATIONAL UNION.

At the afternoon sitting Courtenay place Church was received into the Union, and the Rev. W. Powell was received as an associate. The election of officers took place with the following result :-Mr J. W. Jago, chairman elect; Mr J. Elkin, treasurer ; Mr Milne, secretary (re-elected); Mr W. West Knowles, registrar ; Mr H. J. Le Bailly, auditor. Ten ministers and ten delegates were elected as the Executive Committee for the ensuing year, and it was resolved that the next annual meeting of the Union be held in Auckland. Resolutions were remitted to the Union Committee on the instruction of older scholars in church principles, the compilation of an historical record of New Zealand churches to date, training of students for the ministry, and the formation of a pastors’ retiring fund. Votes of thanks were passed to those friends who had entertained the guests so hospitably, to the ladies who had presided at the tea tables at King street and at Moray place, to the choirs for their valuable assistance, and to the Committee who made such capital arrangements for the meetings. Special thanks were recorded fp tjjie Prcid for their liberal reports of the proceedings.
