LICENSING COMMITTEE ELECTIONS.

THE CITY

The following table shows the voting by the contending parties duriug the four year's that have elapsed sinpe the City was formed into one electorate for licensing election purposes : f 1895.

PORT CHALMERS,

The following nominations for the Fort Chalmers licensing district were received at noon to-day: Edmund G. Allen, proposed by J. B. Taylor and M. Joyce. Robert BAUCHOr, proposed by A. Thomson and N, Murray. John Cablk, proposed by D. Lee and N. Dodds.

John Drysdale, proposed by J. Watson and A. Young. William M. Innis, proposed by A, Moir and A. Main.

William Murray, proposed by R. Biuchop and G. Crawford.

Alexander M'Kenzih', proposed by A. Rae and A. Dawson. Donald Sinclair, proposed by F. North and J. Veal. Andrew Thomson, proposed by J. Watson, jun., and W. Scott. Duncan L. K. Walker, proposed by James M'Farlane and J. A. D.. Adams.

AUCKLAND, Fsbrdary 17. The licensing elections yesterday' all resulted in favor of the temperance candidates by large majorities. The Ponsonby Committee, pledged to prohibition, will withdraw the licenses held by two hotels in the district. At vVaipu (oountry district), where the brewers' oaudidates made a strong fight with a view of getting licenses introduced, the prohibition candidates were all elected by a small' majority. The publican party made no exertion in the city elections, hoping to overthrow their opponents throngh an informality. The publican party have instructed Mr Cutter, solicitor, to endeavor to overturn yesterday's elections on the ground that the nominations were informal.
