FIRES.

A two-roomed house belonging to Antoni I'iriniskie, was elestroyed by a bush fire at Pine Hill yesterday. The only property saved was a pair of blankets. The house was insured for LCO in the New Zealand otlice.

A fire broke out yesterday evening in a five-roomed house at Forth street, Roslyn, owned by Martin Lyons. It appears that Mrs Lyons was reaching up to a shelf when a saucer was accidentally knocked down and upset a kerosene lamp. The alarm was immediately given, and assistance being promptly rendered by Constable Beattie, and Messrs Win. and David Sutherland, the fire was extinguished before it had got a hold of the house, though considerable damage was sustained. The house is insured for L'2oo, and the furniture and effects for L2OO in the Manchester office.
