BENEVOLENT TRUSTEES.
The weekly meeting of trustees of the Benevolent Institution was held this afternoon ; present—Messrs Solomon (chairman), Gourlcy, Carroll, Fagan, Rcnnie, and Haynes. A lady named Young forwarded a donation of LI to the Institution's funds, at the same ticiao writing to the effect that there was a need of the Trustees granting further relief to a woman with five children who had recently been compelled to apply to them.—The donation »vas received, while with respect to the other matter it was resolved to send the children to the Industrial School. A blind match-seller, who had been re ; ceiving assistance from tho Trustees, was reported to have been getting drunk and behaving in a riotous manner.—lt was decided to stop the assistance which he had been getting. The Chairman said that some time ago the Trustees ascertained that they were entitled to LI,OOO from the Government, and tho money had been received by them. The Auditor-General, however, had since stated that he must take exception to the item, on the ground that the monoy had been paid before the Institution became a separate one under the Act.—Consideration postponed till next meeting. Mr W. Isaac was appointed a trustee in place of Mr A. C. Begg (resigned), A number of applications for the position of teacher were received, and consideration of them was adjourned till to-morrow. Accounts amounting to Ll4l 8s 3d were passed for payment. Several applications for relief were dealt with.
