INTERPROVINCIAL CRICKET MATCH.
Tho intcrprovincial match between our Province and Canterbury will commence on Friday next on the Association's Ground at Carisbrook. The local Association are doing all in their power to make the affair a success. For Saturday the services of the Ordnance Band, under tho able leadership of Mr Coombs, have been secured ; and it i 8 to be hoped the attendance will be butter than has been the case of late. We append a brief skotch of each of the Otago players : Ukck (Ph(cuix).—Tho Barlow of the team; plays with determination and patience; always rondcrs a good account of himself, W. CAKSOX(Orangc).-Thc best all-round player in Oiago ; has excellent defence ; hits hard to all parts of the Held ; is a good bowler and a capital Held anywhere. IXiwnes (Orange).—First appearance in a representative mutch ; is one of the bowlers of the team ; has good precision, break, and never tires. llAitl'Kß (Carisbrook).—Captain ; has represented liia P.ovinco before ; a good vigorous bat, hits hard and cleanly; an excellent out-field. Harris (Phtmix) —A punishing bat; has shown good form for his club throughout the current Feason. Horn (Phxmix).—Medium pace left-hand bowler, pitches and breaks with good judgment; inclined to be a little careless occasionally. Macfarlakk (North DuDedin).—A good change bowler; fair field, and linely to make runs, particularly if the bowling is at all looso. Nivkn (Ph(L'nix).—Wicketkecpcr ; has shown gocil form this season behind tho sticks ; free bat when once sot. Pakkkr (Orange).—A good b\t; cuts exccllontly; always comes off when wanted ; good fluid. Raynor (Pba'nix).—Late of the Christchurch Midland Club. Very free bat, though not yet accustomed lo our Southern wickets; an admirable field, closo in j fair chango bowler. Orikvk (Orange).—Onco a very promising bat, scorns slightly off this seassn; iic'.ds very fairly. Takes Bell's place.
Canterbury will be weakened by the inability of Crawshaw to get the necessary leave of absence. His place will bc taken by J. Bush. The visitors arrive by tomorrow's express.
