(Received January 6,1888, at 2.40 p.m.) The French Press criticise the New Hebrides agreement with hostility, and urge the exclusive possession of the group by France. The ' Standard,' on the same subject, says it closely concerns French honor not to further cvado evacuation on the protence that the Suez Canal Convention had not been ratified by the Powers.

It is reported that the Chancellor of the Exchequer will issue 15,000,000 three per cent, stock, reducible before seventy-five years.
