CANTERBURY RIFLE ASSOCIATION.

■■ ■■■♦ The Canterbury Rifle Association meeting closed yesterday. The weather was more favorable for shooting, there being but little wind. The Consolation Match, five shots at 200, 300, and 500 yards, was won by J. Fox (Christchurch) with 56; Sergeant M'Carthy (Dunedin), 54, second. The Small-bore Match, seven shots at 300, 500, and 600 yards, was won by Gunner Scull (Christchurch) with 70. He fired with th,e Martini-Henry rifle. Several Bemington-Lee rifles were used, but the shooting with them was peer. The Team Match between Otago and Canterbury, nine men a-side, ten shots each at 200 and 500 yards, was won by Canterbury With 624 to 595.
