HILLERS AND MILLWORKERS’UNION.
At a well attended meeting of the Millers, Millworkers, ’ and Engine-driven’ Union, held in the Rattray street Hall'on Saturday night, the chairman (Bro. Woodrow) brought under the of the ‘brethren the loss sustained by the milling community in the death of Mr Robert Anderson; He said : I “am sure you will all agree with me in saying that in the deceased has been lost a good, 'kind} and generous masters one for whom It was a pleasure to work, and in whose business bis spryants tooji great ur : terest, knowing that their -aervscta appreciated. ’'The 1 dkcdasod tosh from oflr ranks, by his own business tact and push, to a position of affluence, yet in disposition he remained ever the same kind, congenial man, always having a cheery word or nod for the working man, and at all times ready to do all in his power to advance the interests of the working miller.” After a number of those present had spoken of the many good qualities of the deceased, some of whom spoke very feelingly of their many years’ acquaintance, as also of having .worked'with him both before and after he became a‘ master miller, ,thp meeting unanimously That a letter he sent, expressing the heartfelt sym: pathy of the brethren with Mrs Anderson and family in their sad bereavement.” The other business of the meeting was then proceeded with. The past president (Bro. Robert Macdonald) wap. presented with an illuminated address. The chairman, on making the presentation, said : “ Brother Macdonald, it gives me much_ pleasure l in presenting you with this token from the Union., In it the. members tell of their esteem for yon aa a.'TOag and brother, ai aliso of their 'appreciation of your services in assisting in the formation of the Union, of yonr willingness at all times to forward its Mm of gaining the half-day on Saturday for recreation, and of yonr courtesy daring tiie three terms of yonr chairmanship. In concluding they heartily wish yon, your wife, and family a prosperous joumey through life.”
