-i -i ' AUCKLAND, October 12. j The house of Henry Kodimer, at Rocky i Nook, was burned down last night, ■ The insurances were—Lso in the Union and LSQ in the South British offices. The lloss is estimated at L 250. ''■'■'' •' WELLINGTON October 12. The Premier has received a cablegram from the Premier of Victoria stating that the final date for receiving applications for space at the Melbourne Centennial Exhibition'is the 3lßt December next. ' ■ CHRISTCHURCH, October 12. The house of Mr JJ-Barnett at Leton Bay, has been burned down. It was insured in the Northern Con.pany for L3OO, and the furniture in the Victoria office for L9O. The fire is supposod to have been caused by a spark from the kitchen fire. >' At the Polioe Court to-day, Gpeve de Brun, charged with setting fire -to his stationer's shop on October 5, with intent to defraud the Victoria Insurance Company, was remanded till to-morrow. The evidence showed that the stock was insured for L3OO and the personal effects for £3OO. The stock in the shop when the fire occurred was very small. The wall,- carpet, and part, of the stock were saturated with-kerosene.
