THE POLITICAL CRISIS.
[PER PBESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON, Major Atkinson goes to NeUon this evening on family affairs, dud Will return by Wednesday, for which day a meeting of the Opposition is called. The Major has obtained until Friday next to form, his Ministry, and it is not anticipated that anything definite can be known till after Wednesday's meeting. Major Atkinson denies that' he has any intention of forming a Coalition Cabinet. Meanwhile the Government are holding meetings daily, clearingup accumulations of business, and putting things in order. fFaoM Our Spbcial Reporter.] WELLINGTON, October 1. Major Atkinson has seen Sir George Grey, but neither will state what transpired. Major Atkinson denies that he has undertaken toform a Ministry, and says that he has only asked for time to consult with members to see whether he will be able to undertake the task. He leaves for Nelson to-night, and comes to no decision till the House meet. He says that he will not attempt the task unless assured of the support of a majority, and in the strongest terms he deprecates the possibility of any coalition with Sir J. Vogel.
