THE ANDERSON BAY SCHOOL-HOUSE.
TO TUB EDITOR, Sir —ln reply to Mr John Bone’s inquiry re sale of old house at Anderson Bay, I will give the public the facts as short as possible (Mr lions knows (hem fully). Tno sale of the old house was discussed at a meeting of the School Committee. Tho chairman asked the opinion of a member who knows the value of property, and be said the bouse was worth from Ll2 to Ll4. He was then asked what would he give for the house, and he said from Ll2 to LU. It was not considered right by tho Committee to dispose of the house privately, so tenders were advertised for in the Stab, with tho result that Mr Bone’s written tender was LlO and Mr Reekie’s written tender was Llllos. These tenders were opened at a meeting when only three members of Committee were present; the business was therefore postponed, and at a subsequent meeting, when five members wore present (one absent in Auckland) and one not present, it was unanimously decided to fall back on tho highest offer; and tho member of Committee being willing to give LIS, it was sold to him for that sum. No other offer was before the
Committee. ■ Mr Bone’s written tender for LlO is now in my possession.—l am, oto. T. Barmdy, Secretary Anderson Bay School Committee. Anderson Bay, September 2.
