DUMPING SHEDS.
TO rqi editor. Sir,—Cgn it be possible that there ara any members of tbe Harbor Board so utterly blind to the evils of monopolies in every branch of trade as to think for one moment to play into tbe bands of Messrs John Mill and Co. ? Who are they who assume to them* selves tbe gift of second sight to predict where the business for tbe dumping shed will come from, or by what right have they to say that they have secured all the trade expected by the Board for eeveral years ? Such a statement is mere bounce to frighten timid men or to afford a pretext to interested ones by bonds of business or blood to sacrifice public interests to individual over-reaching. I know of plenty of people who will give employment to a public dumping press whose business cannot be controlled by any contract held by Messrs John Mill and Co. By the way, will Mr Mill just kindly publish the precious document, so that tbe public can judge what is the substance of this gre-.t controlling contract that is to compel people to send all their dumping to him ?-1 am, etc., CfiAFFeUTTER.
