The libel case which was being brought by the Lady Superior of the Roman Catholic Presentation Convent in Launceston against the Rev. C. Price, one of the oldest Congregational ministers in Australia, has been withdrawn, Mr Price having disclaimed any intention of referring to the Tasmanian Convent. The alleged libel arose out of the visit of Miss Edith O'Gorman, Mr Price having written a letter advocating police inspection of convents. The Chief Justice said it was not necessary for the Court to express any opinion either on the facts or on the law. They were glad to see the matter settled without the interposition of the Court, and that there had been a frank disavowal of any intention to injure, and that disavowal had been accepted without expressing an opinion on the publication complained of. He hoped that what had taken place would act as a check in future with regard to similar publications, and that Christian bodies would show Christian forbearance towards one another.
Oh, how refreshing, palatable, and reviving is a draught of cool water with American Hop Bitters in it, to a patient. See.
