Mr Donald Stronaeh (on behalf of the Now Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited) reports for tho week ended Juno 20 as follows: Eat Cattle.—lo9 head wore yarded at Burnside for this day’s sales, varying in quality from medium to good, with a few pins primi. Although this was a much smaller number than is usually to band, competition was only moderately brisk, and no improvement whatever to report in priofs obtained. Best bullocks brought L 7 to L 8 7s fld ; one pen, L 9 ; medium to good, L3lss to L 0 15b ; cows from’ L3to LO 17a fld. Of these about 150 were morinocs, tho balance cross breds, medium to good quality mutton. Competition was fairly active for best wethers and ewes, prices realised showIng a slight advance on last weeks, more especially at tho beginning of tho sales, but towards the close competition was somewhat easier, prices being abodt the same as the previous week. Best cross-bred withers brought 9s to Us flu —one pen 12s'; medium to good, Cs 8d to 8s 9d ; best cross-bred ewes, 8s fld to 10s fld ; midium to good, 4s fld to 8s 3d ;• merino ewes, 6s fld to' Bs Od ; do wethers, Bs Od-one pen extra heavy Ids fld. Store Cattle.—There is very little demand (or those .n the meantime, and the business done during the week unimpoitant. Slo o Sheep.—There is some slight inquiry (or good crcss-bicd ewes in lamb, but, as there are none cl these ottering, there is no business resulting. Tee market on the whole is dull, and transactions limited.

Wool.—Cablegram 1 ', both pubbe and piivate, n - gaiding Hi', progress ( ,f the L-neirm sabs, we gnvifb-.l to tioliiv, are daily of a none efiee tful I t.e Sales continue -inmiated ; aliei .sses hue i mpmvi d the demand (rom America havinv to a Urge extent, assisted the pries.-, v.(licit are new on a par with closing rales o( last, series. Extra mpetinr greasy is higher. On Monday wh offend a few hales scoured merino, remount'i n( a elip previously disposed el. Clothing, liret and a. cond combing, brought Is Ojd to la Ojd ; fust piece's, 9J ; bellies, BJd per lb. Sheepskins.-Wo had a very full attendance of buyers on Monday at our weekly sale, when we offered a largo catalogue of butchers* green and country dry skins, all of which were in good demand, owing, no doubt, to the advices reporting the London wool sales progressing under more satisfactory auspices. Competition was remarkably keen, prices nil round showing an advance on last week’s rates, quality considered. O itmlry dry cross-lirids, lew to medium, brought SJ to 2s 31; do do merino, 9d to 2s; good to best cross-breds, 2s Od to 4a ; dry pelts, 1-bi to (id ; butchers’ green cross-breds, 2s 9d, 3s. 3s 3d, 3s Od, 3s CJ, 3s 7d ; do do merino. Rabbit-skins. There is an exceedingly good demand for these. The auo ion sales are well attended. Competition runs high for late secured skins properly dried, well-furred, free from stairs ; others are also in (air request. The supply Is not by- any means equal to rtquirements Holders would do well to consider the uncertainty' of the Home market continuing to favor us with such satisfactory teports with reference to prices lately obtaining, and take advantage of the present firmness of the market here. On Monday we offered a small catalogue, when the following prices were obtained :-For inferior to medium summer, 4J.1 to 7.jd; autumn and eiriy winter, lOd to Is 2jd ; medium to good winter greys, Is 3Jd to Is 41d ; one bag selected winter doe skins, Is Ojd per lb. Hides.—The market continues fairly steady tut quiet, the demand being almost entirety confined to buyers (or local requirements, for which the most of our supplies are wanted. We quote for inferior and bulls, Jjd to 2d ; light, 2Jd to 2g I ; medium, 2i|d to 3Jd ; heavy, 3Jd to 4d ; an 'odd one occasionally, 4jd per lb. Tllow.—Thete is no alteration to note in the tone of the market. 'Cite usual trad t demand for local requit menta continues (airly active, hut there is no improvement in the hush ets done for shipment, tenderers still preferring to ship on tin if own account.. We quote inferior and mixed 10s to 13s, medium to good 14 1 to liis; best mutton I fit to 17s Gd ; an advance on tint latter qu tation is ashed for parcels in prime erudition fit for shipment. Rough fat, inferior 0 1 to 7s, medium to good Si to 9s; best can! (at (clean), 10s to 11s per c.v t. G aim —Wheat has not improved in demand or price during Hie past week ; but at the same time Hie tone of Ute ma ket continues firm. Millers seem undcsirons to increase tluir stocks at present quotations ; holders, on the oilier hand, are disinclined to make any concussion ; consequently tint week’s transactions in'milling may tu considered light. Fowls’wheat is very much wanted and up to the present almoit unobtainable Consignments coming forward of any dtscription could easily Ini placed at a satisfactory price. We quote best milling, velvet, and Tuscan, 4s to 4s Id ; medium to good, 3s 9d to 3s lid ; inferior and fowls’ wheat, 3s to 3s GJ (ex store, bags weighed in) —Oats : There has been loss business doing lately, owing no doubt in a great measure to holders being stiff in their demands; and, although a moderate trade is passing, sales in consequence have not been of so mueh importance, and to futtherpush business it would require some concession on the part of sellers; but wo do not perceive any disposition to lower nominal ligures, whicli are as follows: For prime stout miffing, Is Shi to Is 9J; extra choice, Id more ; lust short t right feed, Is 8J to Is Bld ; medium, Is 7Jd to Is 8d ; inferior and disroiortd, Is 5d to Is 7d (ex store, bags weighed in). Earley : This market is quite bare of malting, and, as brew. rs have considerable supplies on hand, there is very little doing in this line. Milling is in moderate demand, hut the quantity inquired for this purpose is comparatively iiuall. Ford is also occasionally inquired for, although the business done in barley is small. We quote prime malting 4s to 4s Id ; me ’inm, 3s 8d to 3s lid (sacks extia) ; feed and milling, 3s to 3s Cd (ex tto:e, sacks weighed in). Grass See l —There is no improvement in the demand for cither rye-grasi or c ;cke(oot; quotations nominal.
