FIRES.
AUCKLAND, June 2a,. About midnight Eden Hall with a shop apd t>Y° dwelling-houses were destroyed by fire. The block, which was owned by Mr W. K. Henderson, was insured in the South British Office for L 650, in the Royal for LSOO, Norwich Union for L 250. Donaldson’s (bookseller)' stock, which was’also destroyed, was insured fqr LSO in the Norwich Union Office.
The building and machinery of the Titnaru Woollen Factory is insured for L 4,000. The Equitable Company have L 2,250 of the total amount, and of this’they have re-insures L 1,750, leaving their net line at LSOO, The other companies interested in the risk have proportionate parts of the whole amount of Insurance, and the property is covered to two-thirds of its value.
At Wallacetown on Sunday two fourroomed cottages are believed to have been burned down by incendiaries, as the fires were started almost simultaneously. The insurances were L4O in the Norwich Unfop andLSCj in the National Qffice. The furniture in one of' the houses was uninsured.
