THE CENSUS.
The returns of the Kaiapoi electoral district give a total of 6,895, comprising 3,471 males and 3,424 females. The above figures include—Kaiapoi Borough, 728 males and 794 females ; Rangiora Borough, 789 males and 792 females. The total m 1881 was 6,908. The Ashley electoral district has 2,643 males and 2,150 females ; total 4,793, against 7,045 in 1881 ; Cheviot, 2,655 males and 1,941 females ; total 4,596, against 2,449 in 1881.
