CITY POLICE COURT.
Saturday, January 23. (Before Messrs J. B. Thomson and N. Y. A. Wales, J.P.s.) Drunkenness.— Mary Ellen Mahoney, for this offence, was fined L2, in default seven days' imprisonment. Embezzlement. — Andrew Gordon was charged with having on the 7th December last fraudulently embezzled LI 12s 9d, the property of William Sanderson, his employer. He was also charged with having at different dates stated embezzled from his employer the sums of LI 17s (id, LI 0s 9M, and Ll 12s 4Ad. To each of the charges the accused pleaded guilty.—Mr W. Macgregor, who appeared for the informant, a milkman, stated that accused had been in the habit of taking round accounts to his master's customers, and tho payment of these particular sums he had not accounted for. On the charges being laid against him he cleared out to Oamaru, where he he was arrested.— The Bench addressed a few words of warning to the accused, and sentenced him to fourteen days' imprisonment on each charge, the sentences to run concurrently. Indecent Language.— Mary Ann Davh, for whom Mr E. S. Hay appeared, was charged with this offence, and was ordered to come up for sentence when called upon.
