The ma-ket is new fairly well supplied with kerosene, ordinary test. Star brand is offering at ltd (orparcels. Cornsacks ate tcorcely so firm and may be bought at fs 31. Patna rice is id good inquiry at Ll4 to Ll4 10s, Soda crystals and fine salt are still almost unprocurable. Coarse salt is in bet cr supply and Is so ling at L 4 las in 2cwt bags. Only trade sales are passing in spirits; ale and stout at usual rates. Colza oil has been sold in parcels at 44, but ordinary quotation is 4s 3d ; boiled oil brings 3s 4d ; raw, 3s 2d ; coarse castor, 3i4d to 3s Sd.
THE FROZEN MEAT TRADE.
The Wellington manager of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company hag received a cable message from London to the effect that the frozen meat by the Ruaj ehu has arrived in bad condition in cv.nsfquence of the piston of the freezing machinery bating broken on the voyage.
THE LABOR MARKET,
Mr Skene reports: Wages: Females for farms, stations, town, and hotels, ICs, 12s, and 15s—if good cooks, 20s; hous keepers and governesses, L4O to L 62; day laborers, town, 5s to 7s-for comity, roads, rail, and bush, 7s to 8s; foremen and gaffers, 9s and 10s; dairy lads and boys, 10s, 12s, and 15.: cooks and bakers, 20s to 30s: couples for stations, farms, dairies, etc, L 65, L7O, L 75. and L 8 0; gardeners, LBO to L 12 0; ploughmen, L 52 to L 6 5; shepherds, L6O and L 65; masons, carpi ntere, and their followers crowd each other out—wages, from 9s to 11s and 12s; town hoys, 5s to 7s (no allowances); country hoys, well paid and well fed ; hotel men, dull at frrra 15s to 20s and 304; storemen, shopmen, and ole ks are certainly not wanted in Dunedin.
