The market rate of discount has further advanced to 4g per cent. The bank rate is unchanged at 5 per cent. The Bank of England reserve is L 11,000,000, and the proportion of same to liabilities 39 per cent. New Zealand 5 per cent. 10-40 loan has declined to lOOf; other loans are unchanged. Colonial breadstuff's and tallow are unchanged. THE WOOL SALES. LONDON, Novembab 27. At to day's sale a quieter tone prevailed, Scoured wools were weaker. The catalogue oamprised 9,000 bales. Since the opening of the scries 11,250 bales have been with* drawn from sale. THE FRANCHISE CONFERENCE. LONDON, November 28. (Received November 29,1884, at 1.10 p.m.) Mr Gladstone and Lord Salisbury have definitely agreed upon a plan of redistribution of seats which it is understood will be accepted by both Liberals and Conservatives, and the compromise on tbo franchise questiou is thus complete. THE CHINESE WAR VOTE. PARIS, November 27. The vote of additional credit, to the amount of 43,000,000 francs (L 1.720,000 sterling), was passed by a large majority in the Chamber of Deputies to-day, for the prosecution of the war in Tonquin.
