SPORTING INTELLIGENCE.
At Napier to-day one M’Guire sought to recover from H. Cohen, proprietor of a totalisato'r used at the late meeting of the Napier Jockey Club, the sum of L 3, being the amount of a dividend paid on one of the races. Plaintiff was on the winner, but neglecting to apply till next day payment was refused. Defendant’s counsel contended that the Jockey Club should have been sued, as Cohen, who had the totalisator, was employed by them. The Magistrate upheld the objection, and nonsuited the plaintiff, with costs.
At the Timaru races yesterday the Winter Oats, of 80 sovs, one mile, was won by Gitana (lOst 111b), with Jack (lOst 21b) second, and Marchioness Neil_ third. Siesta (list), Sou’wester (Oat), Miss King filly (Ost 71b), and Mermaid (Oat 71b) also ran. Won by a length. Time, Imin 48sec, The Selling Hurdles was won by Dalesman, and the Consolation, of 30 sovs, one mile, by Luna (9st), with Jack (Bst 121b) second, and Barbary (fist) third.
