AUCKLAND, July 10. The Grand Jury returned a true bill against "Wiuiata and no bill against Samuel Walker for rape. Edws-rd Fitzgci-ald, for larcony, was sentenced to two years' imprisonment; Uobert Johnson, winding v. ith intent, was acquitted ; Samuel Henry Cox, wounding, imprisoned till tho rising of tho Court, owing to his having received seviro injuries at tho time; Heteraka, burglary, w.vs acquitted; James Edwards, for burglary, three years' imprisonment. True bills were found against Pakaiv. and Epiha for shooting with intent. No bills wero found Against David Johnsto;., horse-stealing; Henry Lewis, forging an endorsement; and Frederick Fairbuin, fo- 'stag illegally on the premises of tho Rev. Mr Gittos. Hennelly, for forgery, was sentenced to three years' imprisonment; and Joseph Hayes, theft, eighteen months', Emmanue K.oderiguez was convicted of an unnatural offence, and remanded for sentence. No bill was returned against James Bower, forgery. Tho Grand Jury made a presentment, in which they pointed out that numbers of cases came before them that ought to have been dealt with summarily by Justices of the Peace. CHRISTCHURCH, July 12. James Wilkinson, for larceny as a bailee, received six months' hard labor.
