fßv ot'R Special Reporter.] CHRISTCHURCH, AVgvbi- 27. The annual football match between Canterbury and Otago was played at Christcnurch this afternoon. Owing to the recent heavy rains the loc-o.lv of the game had to be altered at the eleventh hour to the College Ground, the use of which was kindly granted by the Board of Governors. The weather is fine. Bose captains Otago, and Million Canterbury. The game is ttf be played in two three- cjuarter-hour spells. Otago’s chances are regarded here as particularly rosy, great dissatisfaction being expressed at the choice Dy the local Selection Committee. . The game is being played in four twenty-live minutes’ spells. About 200 people are present. Otago won the toss and played with the wind. No score Was gained during the first spell. At the commencement of the second spell Otago showed up in splendid stylo, with the result that M'Einnon secured a touch. The try was intrusted to Rose, but was a miserable failure. No other score was made during the remainder of the spell. 4.30 P. 31. Otago won by on? goal arid one try to nil. Intense enthusiasm was manifested. There were no accidents.
