THE NORTH-EAST VALLEY CLERKSHIP.
TO THE EDITOB. Sib,—l see by your Saturday's issue that a motion has been tabled in the Borough Council to reduce the clerk's salary. I, as a ratepayer, regard the motion as a blind on the part of the mover, who ia reputed to have eaid on & recent occasion that he had only to put up his finger and he could wind the Council in any way he liked. I hope the Council will not be led ia this matter. Our olerk is a deserving, hard-working officer, and is paid little enough now.—l am, etc j Selkirk. North-east Valley, February 8.
