«. Tho monthly meeting of this C macil yesterday was attended by Messrs J. Roberta (chairmin), Fiadlay, Scow, Collins, Charters, and Bunting. BErORTH. The Inspector recorameudtd that the road between the We.it Taieri end tho toll-bar, a distance of 138 chains, be repaired.—lt was resolved to call for tenders far 1.259 ya«U gravel for the road between the West Taieri bridge and tho old toll-bar; to get the Engineer's opinion oa the state of culvert at Marchbank ' farm ; and to call for tenders f r the supply of metal aad formation of read between' Miller's and Heecan's pre* pprties. The Engineer (Mr R Hay) reported as fallows :—"Reado's oontrsci for gravelling i 3 completed. The K»ikor»i bridge will not be finished uctil nexc meeting. About twothirds tf one piece : f the Dsep Sirs&ni bridge ia finished; all tho itouwoik is on tho ground, and the timber has arrived in Dunedin, and is now on ita way to the works." A letter was reciived from the Council's sol citors re hawkers' licensea, in which they expressed the opinion that ail hawkeri trading with licenses other than those granted by the Council ware liable to b* prosecuted —lt was reaolved tkat all persons four»d hawking ia the Taisri after the 15th ins*-, without a license granted by tho Taieri County Council should be prosecuted. OTA.GO CENTPAL RAILWAY. The chairman of tha Vincent County Cuuncii wrote forwarding the roeolusioLS n the Oago Central railway, which he stated had teen earned uoanimouily by that body. He explained that the proposal was that each ctuaty should escort the Commissioners elected to the boundary cf tl e text c .uaty, and that the expenses of the Commis-ion ehould be jointly paid by the three counties —Taieri, Maniototo, and Vincent. Mr Snow called attention to a res. lutiou on the same question passed by the Council soma time pa'.t. They had then consented to leave the matter in tha hands of the Government. The Chairman considered it desirable that they should co-operate wikh the other counties ard that they should be represented on the Commission. Mr Djnaid Reid had been mentioned as a likely ptraon to represent them. It was reaclvcd—" That the Taieri County Council sc-opirate with the Vincent and Maniototo County Council* in their proposals, and that Me srs Charters, Fiadlay, and the chairman be appoiuted a committee to appoint a jenon to represent the Taieri C.mty Council on the Commission." 1 1
