THE HARBOR BOARD.
After we went to press yesterday,' ?th© .Board, on resuming from committee,' reported that the following resolutions proposed by Mr Fish had been agreed to : “That this Board, having discussed the subjects for which it has met, resolves, in order to more efficiently and economically carry out the works of the Board, that (1) Mr bimpson a services in his present capacity be dispensed with, and that he be requested to accept the position of consulting engineer at the annual retaining fee of £ in accordance with Mr Fish’s motion; (2) that a competent person be appointed to charge of the dredging operations, machinery, etc., and that, another person be appointed to take sole charge of all other works; (3) that , the secretary be ! the chief officer of the Board, through whom all reports and other information; for the Board fu—W 501116 ’ and that it be remitted to the Works Committee to interview Mr Simpson, and report generally to the Board at its next meeting.” The Works Committee reported having, in accordance with powers given, instructed the engineer to send, the dredge New .Era down to Port Chalmers as soon as she has finished the necessary dredging of the swinging-basin at Rattray street wharf, to ! dredge, a channel-100ft in width; and-tho-time not to exceed two .months.—Mr Fen»--wick s letter was Considered, as also letter from the Minister of Public-Works mT reply to the Board’s letter of ' 2'Sth March. ;The Committee recommend that the seVerai sections shown on tne plans attached be at once advertised to be leased by public aucturn, Mr Ramsay moved, and Mr MitiL That the report be adopted; and that it .be remitted to, the Committee to t&ke tne necessary steps forthwith to have the sections as indicated 'sold by public auction py Mr Pyrt£; .the, upset price to be &£edby the Board at its next ordinary meeting.”— Mr Pym was appointed auctioneer under the seal of thefSpard; S . •rr = !.':-u , »:inrn 1 vviten is a blow‘from a young dome ?_ When she strikes you agreeably.
