RICHMOND. n- , . , . Melbourne, January IS. ai: i.? 1 ?, " Continued to-day, the weather being delightlully cool. The wicket did not play at all true, and the bowling of Richmond was anything but good; but they fielded well. W. Frith batted very freely, bringing the score up to 191 before he was bowled by ivory. In Richmond’s second innings Minion Was the only one who seemed to be able to make anything of the bowling. »f the Friths and Ashby, who wore lu fine form, as the analysis shows, Charles being credited with five wickets for 16 runs, and Willie two for 16, while Ashby’s three were got for 20. Canterbury’s fielding was excellent, and Neilson made two capital catches. Requiring 36 to win, Baker and Hartland were sent in, and the former began so well that at one time it looked as if it were going to be done without the loss of a wicket; but Hartland, when 20 had been made, put his leg in front of the wicket, and the same error was shortly afterwards committed by Baker. Ashby and Watson kept their wickets intact till the number was obtained, Canterbury thus- winning by 2 runs and eight wickets.
