RESIDENT MAGISTRATE’S COURT, PORT CHALMERS.
(Before T. A. Hansford, Esq,, R.M.) Drunkenness. —John Solomon was fined 20s, in default forty-eight hours’ imprisonment ; Margaret Lynch, ss, with the usual alternative. The prisoner Lynch, for having no lawful means of support, was further sentenced to seven days’ imprisonment, with hard labor. Theft.— Henry West, Samu 1 Cousins, and Andrew Brown, seamen belonging to the sihooner Tauranga, were charged with stealing seven blocks and a quantity of rope from the lighter Pelichet, of the value of L 3, the property of David Graham. Mr Joyce, who appeared for the prisoners, pleaded not guilty. After hearing the evidence of the prosecutor and three other. witnesses, Sergeant Hanlon applied for the case to be adjourned until to-morrow'or the ] reduction of another witness, which rtque t liis Worship granted.
